Each year CCCS students are given the opportunity to travel to Merida, Yucatan to minister to the people of this fascinating land. The majority of the people groups in this region are of Mayan decent, with many existing far below the acceptable standard of living. Most families make just enough money to put food on their tables. Although Catholicism is the main religion in this area, most of the people do not have knowledge of a personal relationship with the living God. This short-term mission trip will be a life-changing experience for those who are ready to make a difference in Yucatan!
What will we be doing?
Alongside Calvary Chapel Downey’s missionary family, we will simply be making ourselves available to help in whatever ways the Lord enables us. In years past we have put on various VBS type ministries in the Mayan villages of Tabi and Hocaba, the Convalescent Home “Abuelos,” and Calvary Merida (which included: games, crafts, songs and skits). There are usually opportunities as well to do construction work in the remote villages, as the Lord allows. Whatever opportunities He has planned for us, our trip to Yucatan is always fulfilling, exciting, and memorable.
