Vocal

The high school choir is comprised of 9th-12th graders that desire to worship the Lord through choral music! They have many performances throughout the year, which include performances in the Downey community, CCCS concerts or musical theater productions. Performances include Disneyland (Candlelight Ceremony, Community Arts Showcase and recording sessions), LA Kings games, Broadway productions and singing at hospitals and convalescent homes. However, the most important goal is to train these students to worship the Lord through their whole life and to prepare them to succeed in college and beyond.

Women’s Choir and Men’s Choir focus on refining vocal production, music theory, sight-reading, and rehearsal etiquette. Students entering these choirs are looking to build a foundation for their musical journey and can range from beginners to advanced singers. These choirs participate in all the same performances as the rest of the H.S. Chorale.

Ladies’ Madrigal is a select group of female singers from the H.S. Chorale that display leadership, good vocal production, and advanced music theory. Advanced students seeking to study music in college hone their musical skills and cover advanced material.

Remembrance (Honor Choir) is a select group of male and female singers from the H.S. Chorale that display leadership, good vocal production, and advanced music theory. Advanced students seeking to study music in college hone their musical skills and cover advanced material. The Honor Choir participates in all the same performances as the rest of the H.S. Chorale but they also have many additional performances. This choir participates in college choir festivals at APU, Biola, Masters, Westmont and Cerritos College.
