Week of 12/11/17:

December ESLR: This month’s ESLR is “Healthy Individuals”. Healthy Individuals are students who grow spiritually, mentally, physically, and emotionally, and are equipped for the challenges of life. (1 Corinthians 6:20) “For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.”

Book It!: The best gift you can give yourself is to open a book.  Like, snowflakes, no two books are alike. *Keep chillin’ with books!*

No Chapel or Morning Exercises This Wednesday December 13: Students will be preparing for the Christmas play on Thursday, December 14. We will still be on our normal “Late Start Wednesday” schedule. Chapels and Morning Exercises will resume on Wednesday, January 3.

Christmas Play: Elementary students have been practicing their songs soon for the big event this Thursday, December 14, at 6:30pm in our Main Sanctuary. This year’s event is called, “A Candy Cane Christmas”. Our 2018 Senior class will be hosting their annual “Jerusalem Fair” to help support their Senior Israel Trip. They will be selling items from Jerusalem and refreshments. Invite your friends and family to hear about this wonderful day, sharing about the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. See your child’s weekly letter for information regarding Christmas Play attire.

High School Christmas Jubilee December 15 & 16: The High School Choir cordially invites you to attend the choir’s Christmas Jubilee Concert on December 15 & 16 (Friday & Saturday), at 7pm in the Main Sanctuary Foyer. Come hear the choir sing traditional Christmas Carols, favorite holiday classics, and the unforgettable Hallelujah Chorus! You don’t want to miss out on this special evening celebrating Christ’s birth! Tickets are $5 and can be purchased in the H.S. Office or at the door before the concert.

Operation Toasty Christmas: Calvary Chapel of Downey is working alongside the Dept. of Child and Family Services to bless underprivileged children in our community.  We are asking for our CCCS families to donate a new children’s jacket or a new blanket anytime between now and December 15. Jackets will be distributed to eligible children at an exciting event CCD will be hosting on Saturday, December 23. You can bring your donated items to the School Office or to Daycare. Thank you for coming alongside to bless these children.

This Friday, December 15: ½ Day/Christmas Celebration. Students may wear Christmas colored shirts with jeans this day. Siblings may not attend the celebrations. Enjoy your time with your student. Refer to your child’s Teacher Monday Letter for more information.

  • Students will be dismissed at 12:00pm.
  • Students staying in Daycare should have a sack lunch. No hot lunch is provided this day.
  • Normal Daycare fees will begin at 3pm.

Christmas Break: CCCS will be on Christmas Break December 18-January 1. School will resume on Tuesday, January 2, 2017.
